Here are  Tips to save your wet gadgets from getting damaged !

Getting your devices or gadgets wet these days is not a big deal. Especially when it comes to phones, as modern ones are made to be splash resistant anyway. Unless you go playing submarines with your phone in the bath tub then you are going to be alright.
As a point of interest, if you do drop your phone in the wet and you pull it out again as soon as possible, then it may seem like the speakers or microphone are broken. They are not! So do not take them to a repair shop or they will keep it in for a week, dry it out and then charge you and pretend they fixed the speakers and microphone. Watch out for that little con trick.

  • What should you do once your device gets wet?

Panic a little, because it always helps to have a bit of a panic. If you think the people on the Titanic didn’t get a bit panicked when their stuff started to get wet then you are mistaken. Once you have had your panic just follow a few of the tips below, as most devices are going to be fine. It is only if you drop your devices in solutions or solvents that you are going to be in trouble, for example, dropping it in wet icing sugar, acetone, paint, etc.

  • Get it out of the water post haste?

This is the first thing you need to do, the less time it spends in the water the better. Do not grab at it. Pull it out of the water as if you were pulling a swimmer from a pool. Doing this will allow the bonds between the water molecules to pull off the water drips as you pull out your device, leaving just a big drip at the bottom where it finally comes from the water.

  • Do not swing it around

When you do this the G-forces actually push water into the tiny slits and holes in the body of the device. You may feel tempted to swing it around but there will be parts that end up having water pushed into them where water would not have gone otherwise.

  • Roll it in a towel

This is the best thing to do. A towel is going to draw the water from the device. If you want to roll it in a towel and then leave the towel then that is not a bad idea. Move it around a bit so it gets to go on a dry bit of the towel.

  • Leave it to dry in a warm place

How warm is up to you, but there are some devices that are not going to appreciate a hair dryer or a warm windowsill. It may be a case of figuring out how much heat your device can take.

  • The fridge can help sometimes

A fridge draws water out of things, and that water usually condenses on the back, so if you read people saying you should put it in the fridge then they are not joking. If all else seems to have failed then it cannot hurt to give it a try.

  • Silicon chips from your local hardware store

You sometimes find these silicon chips in new shoes to stop them being damp. You can buy them in hardware stores where you may place them in a room to absorb the moisture. All you need to do is put the container with the chips into a Tupperware box with your device and shut the lid. The chips should absorb the water.

  • Leave it a long time before charging

The longer you leave it before charging then the better. Attaching it to mains electricity may cause a short if there is water in the device.

  • Broken now doesn’t mean broken forever

It may take a while to dry out, so your device may appear broken for a long time, but there is always a chance it may work again once it has fully dried.

  • Be wary of leaving it on a radiator

You only need be wary because it may get too hot for some devices. There are many people who have dropped their phone in water, put it on the radiator and ruined the screen. They think the water did it, but it was the heat.

  • Remove the battery and dry the insides

You should take the device apart as much as you can so that it can dry properly. If you have wet your phone then taking out the battery to dry separately is a great idea.
